About Refactory

Refactory is training the next generation of tech talents and experts in Uganda.

The programs are made by and for tech companies, and teach the skills needed to secure a career in tech.

What is Refactory?

Refactory is a training academy that's offering alternative industry-led skilling for the technology sector in Uganda. Our innovation is an approach to skilling. After piloting and working with industry partners, we have been able to develop a model that was benchmarked against the software engineering industry world-over.

Refactory is a Company Limited by Guarantee that was formed by four partners Laboremus Uganda Ltd, Fontes Foundation, Youth With A Mission UK, and Clarke International University.

Refactory has been supported by funding from the Norwegian Agency for International Development (NORAD) and other donors.

We focus on nurturing software engineering talent for the local and international software development industry.

We match skill with market demand by equipping trainees to become software craftsmen, able to design, implement, and manage complex real-world software projects; thereby bridging the technology talent employability gap.

Refactory was developed on a Social Enterprise model with the core purpose of human capital development with a focus of enabling more young people into employment as well as increase the number of women working in technology.

Together let us build a tech industry that can compete on a global scale!
